Frogman Curtis
Frogman Curtis (Tenor Sax)
Name a well-known soul band from the 60’s and Frogman has probably toured with them. In the late 60’s, he toured Europe with such soul legends as Ben E. King, Eddie Floyd, & Carla Thomas, to name but a few. Fresh from his European adventures and change of musical direction, Frogman became a Savage, with the wildly eccentric, late Screaming Lord Sutch and The Savages. He left Lord Sutch to form the highly acclaimed Rock Rebellion, after whose demise Alvin Stardust signed him up. In 1981, we see him enjoying life on the road with Robert Plant & The Honeydrippers. Recently he’s been the driving force behind the country’s leading classic soul band, The Soul Survivors.

Curly McVicar
Curly McVicar (Drums & Vocals)
Curly’s musical career began back in the late 60’s with the Bobby Johnson Big Band at Birmingham’s now infamous Tower Ballroom, where he spent several happy and successful years backing popular artistes of the time.
This was followed by a lucrative spell with Tommy Burton’s Sporting House Jazz Band which took Curly all over Europe and the UK touring top jazz venues and making numerous television appearances. After leaving Tommy, Curly moved on to the Rock and Pop circuit where he worked with many top professional outfits, this is when it was found he possessed a powerhouse voice.
The Groove
Mike “The Groove” Lavender (Keyboards)
Mick cut his teeth originally on the piano accordion, but he was hooked on the Hammond organ since the 60’s, when soul first hit the UK and Mick hit his teens. After dodging school to gig with professional bands, he moved to London at the tender age of 17 to sign with Island Records.
The development of his skills in studio technology led him into extensive work with Mike Oldfield in the 70’s. Since then, he has recorded and appeared with the likes of Jeff Beck, Robert Plant, Noosha Fox, Roy Wood, Jaki Graham & Ruby Turner.
Will Hicks (Guitar/Vocals)
William Hicks comes from a musical family, first picking up a guitar at the tender age of 10 and with both his brothers and father playing it was not long before they were forming their own Soul & Blues band... The Influence of Blues and soul music at such a young age made a big impression on Will he was soon knocking out Hendrix riffs.
Deciding this is where his future lay he went on to Bristol University to study Music and Recording techniques. While at Bristol, Will worked and recorded with numerous bands and soon became in demand in the studio and with several TV and Radio appearances under his belt it wasn’t long before Will turned professional. He came across The Soul Survivors via family friend and Soul’s bass man Dave Howson and when the job came up with the band, he was the natural choice
